Has anyone used or have knowledge/experience regarding the use of chlorella algae in cattle water as a supplement to aid digestion, improve weight gain, reduce feed intake and hasten finishing time on grass? It seems to be mixed with other minerals and a yeast source for a few days before application/injection into drinking water.

Vineyard postharvest fertilization
I just use extract as there’s things that can go wrong with tea. I’ll add some blackstrap molasses, powdered milk sometimes because it’s the only milk readily available raw milk isn’t really an option. In 1000l I’ll use probably 60lbs of compost but I make it in roughly 375l batches. More during the spring/growing season I’ll add bone meal…

We have multiple small ponds, none hold water for long. We have what you would call deep soils that are a silt loam. Water drains down incredibly quickly. Our swales also dont hold much moisture for long either. I don’t want to use plastic liners. Would bentonite clay be a permanent solution?

Good morning Laila,
The construction of dams/ponds is something that we have a 24 step process to completing and the first 5 steps are all about investigating the site and its materials (see the screenshot of the 3•23 Construction section of the 3•Water chapter of the ‘Regrarians Handbook’).
If you have deep silty loams then I am not surprised…

Thanks for the thorough explanation. And yes you are right, there is less runoff and more water staying where it should, in the soil, higher up in the landscape. Where does one find these GCL liners? I’m in Kentucky, USA.

Can someone explain how you find the “keypoint,” of a property?

Good morning @lailaalizadeh ,
Thanks for the question.
I will use the definition that we provided in the ‘2•10 Geography of Keyline’ section of the ‘Regrarians Handbook’:
“…KEYPOINT – is located in both the Saddle and Primary Valley landforms. In
the Saddle the Keypoint is located in the apex of the Saddle depression. Each successive Primary… -
This makes perfect sense, thanks. And the key lines begin where the primary valley key point starts?
