Hi all
Im in the middle of a grow and my pH is high enough that its locking up my micronutrient. How would you lowers soil ph? Could it be balanced with water, thats has a lower ph? How would composter, like yourselves, correct this issue. Im excited to hear read your response.
Thank you
Jason

generally speaking, fungi lower the PH in the soil. so applying fungally dominated compost extract and /or feed the existing fungi in the soil with fungal foods such as humic acid and maybe even some kelp. That is, if you have enough of active fungi. What are you growing, btw?

Thank you. It sounds like I could see a response, as long as there is a fungus present. I thought for sure I was going to have to wait till next year to see a response, in the soil. So if there is active mycelium ,my PH would be lower? I just need it to go down from 7 to 6.5. Not much

Ive been sending my leafs samples out, for the last month or so and keep getting ph at 7 and low micronutrients uptake We applied chicken manure and we think this is the corporate. Iam in the process of getting an assay done that shows me the total sum of different elements and the quantities contained in my soil. Its…

Hi Mads,
I don’t have any experience, but as I understood it, it is important to check whether the nutrients are there (or not). But yes in some situations it may be of interest to know what is actually needed. In that case I would suggest comparing the values with those recommended for a regular soil test that checks for the plant availability… Read more

Thanks Tim! And sorry for late response.
If I understand you correctly, i should only worry about oversupplying/applying soluble nutrients in their ionic form and not insoluble nutrients locked up in their natural material only accessible if mineralized by microbes?
I also had problems finding labs doing this but i Foundation two. I just… Read more - View more comments
