Smut in older variety of wheat
Does anyone have experience with overcoming smut in an older variety of wheat? Conventional knowledge says to apply a fungicide to the seed. Are there alternative methods at seeding and is there a way to overcome it in season once it has shown up? Are there nutrients that would help?

In summary, in California they grow around 12mmmt of processing tommies a year, in Australia we grow 40x less than that. The sable Cali climate is one of the biggest advantages with reduced humidity and subsequent disease pressures.…

Marty Travis’s grower group produces very niche items, like specialty corn for corn meal that is valued at 8.00 per lb.
Bob Jones from Chef’s Garden produces very high-value niche microgreens, edible blossoms, etc.
What/where are similar opportunities for perennial crops that are particularly high value? Like red walnuts, specialty pears…

Here in NY I am starting a Chicago Hardy Fig Orchard. Another that knocks socks off and is EASY to grow is Holy Basil aka Tulsi. Those are just off the top of my head.
